Dude, you got home theater questions, and you aren't coming to me? I'm hurt... What you need is categorized under UPNP and DNLA. You need a music rendering device like the Roku Soundbridge M1001 (I have 2 - and even convinced Baljeet to put one on his wedding registry).
Then you need music server software (I use Twonkyvision, because it can run server side on my NAS, so my PC's don't even need to be on. But it can work with the iTunes Music Server (included with iTunes) as well.)
All my music is stored on a NAS drive (using a Netgear ReadyNas - fans are a little loud).
